Noah’s home birth
By · CommentsNoah was born at home with a midwife (two, actually), and I had the honor of taking his birth pictures. I met his mommy at the Friends of Missouri Midwives group that meets monthly in Springfield. I really wanted to photograph a home birth that we could use to show others what one is like. I just want people to know they have options out there for where to give birth. We had our baby at home as well, and I am so glad we did. If anyone reading this has questions about home birth, the Friends of Missouri Midwives group, midwives, or home birth photography, please contact me and I’ll do what I can to help you. Email me rebecca@purecaptures.com or call 417.830.6642 for pricing and info on home birth photography around Springfield, Branson, and Southwest Missouri.
I selected the images for this video to tell the story in the best way possible. There is nothing in it that would make you uncomfortable if you have never seen birth pictures before. Birth is really the coolest thing I have ever photographed and I can’t wait to do more!
Baby Koah is here!
By · CommentsTwo things I love: Babies and natural light. Put them together and what do you get? A great photography session! (Ok, some of these I had to use a very light bounce, but the majority of it was all natural light from their big living room window.)
Thanks once again for such a chill photo session, Lindze and Landon! (By the way, you can see their maternity session from a few weeks ago here.) Commence squishy lips and naked baby bums….NOW!
love those toes poking out!
Koah in his Pizza House attire…..long story. I’d link to them but can’t find a website or FB page for them, even though they said they had one. I’ll have to call and find out, because they gave us this shirt when we ate there the day Koah was born. They are on Commercial Street & are pretty good for your basic pizza (good prices, friendly staff). We dropped it off at the hospital for them without our names, just a note on an order form. They were pretty confused until Matt dropped a line on Landon’s Facebook page that clued them in, hehe….I like Landon’s idea about putting him in the box!
Branch’s 6ish-month baby shoot
By · CommentsWe had the pleasure of taking a few maternity pictures of these three back in July when we went to hang out one summer evening at the creek. I can’t believe how fast time flies! Patrick & Branch will have many fun times in the future, I’m sure. I’ll probably post a few of them on Patrick’s blog later this week.
Have I said how much I loooove doing in-home sessions? We have been to Matthew & Lacy’s house quite a few times, so I knew they had lots of fun nooks to work with. And Branch just cracks me up with his silly baby-ness! I love how these turned out – the lighting was great!
My Favorite:
Hi-larious!

Chelsea, Josh, and Joshua Henry’s maternity pictures
By · CommentsThis is Chelsea and Josh, and Joshua Henry, who is coming any day now! They live on a beautiful farm near Monett, and wanted pictures of them and their dog on the farm. I thought, “Sweet! Cute couple, quaint farm, baby momma with gorgeous eyes, AND a doggie! I can dig this!”
Sooo pretty, with justt a touch of fog left in the distant trees:
Wyatt was a very polite dog, and he knew how to fetch quit nicely!
More puppy (sorry, I like dogs…)
Birthday lunch at Tea Bar and Bites
By · CommentsThis was from Rebecca’s birthday in January. I was going through some personal pics and they looked like they would make a fun blog post! We went to Tea Bar and Bites, one of her favorite places to eat in Springfield. The food is amazing, fresh, and made from scratch. (Unfortunately, we have no food pics this time because we had just brought the camera in from the cold car and had to wait for it to de-fog, and we didn’t want to let our delicious food get cold! That just means we have to go back, though, right?)
Lindze, Landon, and Koah’s Maternity session!
By · CommentsHow did I get so lucky as to have such good-lookin’ people up on my blog…not once, but twice! I don’t know….but I’ll take it!
We shot Lindze and Landon’s wedding last year in January, and now Baby Koah is due, like, *anydaynow*. Isn’t that a sweet name? It’s Hawaiian (“Koa”), with an H so it wouldn’t be like Kampgrounds Across America. lol…and I believe it is also the name of a pro surfer. Lindze and Landon went surfing in California a few years ago and loved it. So there you go; it became their baby boy’s name!
I went out to their house to get these shots. They had great light and lots to work with. As I told them, it’s great for them because they don’t have to go anywhere, they end up feeling more comfortable, and it’s just more personal and memorable. (And it’s great for me because I get to play with new backgrounds!) Well, Lindze is, as you can plaunly see, absolutely gorgeous in every picture I’ve ever taken of her. She makes my camera look good, lol!
And Landon said he wasn’t sure what to do at first, but I think he looks pretty relaxed. I try to remind our clients during shoots to “just get comfortable” (I say that a lot), and the pictures will end up looking great if they just do their thing. So I think he pulled it off pretty well, don’t you?

Reviving the Dress!
By · CommentsThis photo shoot is proof that you don’t have to “trash” a dress to get some wild pictures. Of course, you wouldn’t want to troop across a cow field on your wedding day, but the day or week after? Bring it! All Tiff had to do was shake out some grass afterwards, and she can still preserve it if she wants. She shared a great article with me today on wedding dress preservation with a few DIY tips at the end. (Check out the other photos I posted of Tiff’s session – I just got excited looking at these today and wanted to put up more!)
