Lindze & Landon’s wedding

By Pure Captures

We went up to St. Louis this weekend to photograph Lindze & Landon’s wedding, and it was wonderful!  I met Lindze in a book study at The Potter’s House last year, and she had seen some work that we had done of a couple’s wedding from our church.  She asked us to do their wedding, and I have been really excited about it for a long time!  I had a lot of ideas and I am really pleased with the images.  The couple was gorgeous, the church had some great modern arcitecture with big windows, and the bride was a beautiful model – my job was easy!  We also had a new camera and some new gear that helped with lighting, which makes my editing portion faster and easier.

I got to ride in a sweet limo with the bridal party and take pictures in there -  a ton of fun!!  The crazy lights inside the limo kept changing colors!  I wanted to capture everyone’s faces but still get the colored lights, so I used a flash and dragged the shutter speed, which froze moving people in the bumpy limo, but let in the ambient light afterwards.  (FYI, if you have a digital point-and-shoot, a “night mode” will do the same thing – good for capturing people in front of Christmas trees and any other situation you don’t want to look too “flashed” and end up with a dark background)  I dragged the shutter on the dance floor at their reception, and we also went flashless and got some crazy colors going on.  We got some traditional pictures, too, of course, but it was really fun to be able to get creative with all of those different lighting situations!

Matt & I had a great time with everyone.  Thank you, Lindze and Landon, for letting us be a part of your amazing day!

Um, can you say gorgeous bride?  Not only outside, but inside as well.  Landon is one lucky guy!   (And I love the lines in this image!)

I saw the cross (how could you not?) and thought I’d take this image with the two of them under it because both Lindze and Landon love the Lord.  They understand each other’s roles as husband and wife and how that relates to how Jesus loves us and died for us.  They know why they are getting married and are committed to loving, forgiving, and making  their marriage work.  (There is a lot of symbolism in this image, as well as some interesting compositional lines and nice lighting, which is why I am voting it as my favorite.)

Such a fun shot!  I was feeling creative again and did a little Photoshopping on the color for this one.  It was originally a purpleish color from some lights the DJ had, but I like the warmer glow of the red.

There are a ton of amazing images that I am restraining from processing and blogging right now, but I’ll post some later!  Meanwhile, I’ll also be getting proof images ready to post online this week.  To see those, you can go to http://www.purecaptures.com and click on “See Your Prints” at the top of the page.  Then select “Lindze and Landon” and enter your email address to see the photos.

Everyone have a great week!!  Happy New Year!
