Kim & James
Posted by: | CommentsKim & James came down to Springfield recently for their engagement session. They’re getting married on the Fourth of July (at Stonegate Chapel - gorgeous!). Now I am even more excited about their wedding because I had a blast with these two at the park! They both have such great, laid-back personalities. They were wonderful at ignoring me and just hanging out & having fun with each other while I took photos of them laughing and being sweet on each other. I looooove photo sessions like that! It makes my job easier because I get the opportunity to focus more on being creative with the camera than focusing on helping people relax. Enough yapping; here are some of my favorites!

Posted by: | CommentsI was really pleased with how this photo shoot turned out, especially with all the dead trees and grass and weird winter light. We got some colorful shots on the playground and a pink bridge nearby, despite all the drabness outside. And that birch tree – yeah! You’ll see here in a second…it’s my favorite! I just love the light from the sun coming in from behind them, and the saturation of the pink in her shirt and the browns in the tree and background. But enough talk. Just take a looksky!

As you can see, lots of laughing!

I think she hit her head on something right before this…

These warm tones are nice in this picture. It was a full spread in the press-printed book I made from this shoot.

I like how they pretty much ignored me unless otherwise directed. I like to tell my couples to pretend they are on a date and just ignore me unless I say something. I can tell that it really makes them more relaxed and less “posey.” Most people are used to looking at the camera and smiling…which isn’t bad in itself…but it gets to be boring if that’s all the kind of pictures you have! I love to especially see couples interacting and capture that. I think it is also fun for them because they get to see how other people see them when they are spending moments together.
I hope everyone reading this has a wonderful day!!

Posted by: | CommentsWow, it was cold on this shoot the other day! We had fun, though. I still have all my fingers. (Becky and Kevin are getting married in June!)

Playing with shadows…

Brr…so cold!
Chris and Lindsey – A night shoot!
Posted by: | CommentsI have to say, night shooting is now my favorite! Since the sun goes down ridiculously early these days, I thought I’d say, “HA, Mr, Sun! Take that!” and go out on a night shoot. I had gone with some other photographers to hang out on Commercial Street last week and practice some creative night shots, and I wanted to go back with someone to photograph more people than just the surroundings (as cool as that was!). Chris and Lindsey are good friends of ours, and they were more than happy to oblige with my night shoot idea. Lindsey said she was really nervous in front of the camera (even though she loves getting her pictures done!), but all the laughing she did hid any nervousness she claimed to have had. We got some awesome, awesome shots!!! I just love the color and dramatic lighting in these photos. I would definitely do this again – there are so many other places to do a night shoot that would be really neat!!!
Now on to the photos and the amazing hottness of Chris and Lindsey!! (They are married, and I encourage hottness among married couples!)

Wow, that last one….woooo, I told you it was hot!
We are headed off to CHICAGO for four days before Thanksgiving. (My little sis has her senior recital this weekend!) That means four nights in the big city to do some more night shooting! I’ll try to post while we’re gone but no promises! We might be having too much fun photographing!
Tiffany and Scott
Posted by: | CommentsOk, it’s so late, but I wanted to get these up today. And introducing: my new borders for web posting! I think it makes the whole picture look nicer! I’m still working on a logo; I’ll incorporate that into the border later. For now, here are my favs from Tiffany and Scott’s engagement shoot. They’re getting married in November! They were hilarious and made us laugh a lot. I thought about posting the nose-picking shot….but I’ll leave that for Tiffany and Scott to decide if they want that on the internet…

Might I add that the Japanese Garden in Springfield will be looking particularly lovely in a short period of time…perfect for romantic photography like this, bridal portraits, or even Really Classy family and senior photos. Our weekends are filling up in October (not so much the weekdays, though) so call this week to book your sessions!
