]]> We’ve been waiting for a warm day to do this, and Monday was that perfect day.  I have to say, photographing your own baby is a lot harder than photographing someone else’s!  At least with another person’s baby, they can nurse or hold them for a bit without having to always be putting down the camera.  But we got some good shots, and since we’ll always have this little baby model around, I didn’t worry too much about the shots that didn’t work out so well this time.

]]> We ordered a standout mount of this picture of our baby!  We thought it would look great with a texture and swirl, so we played around a bit until it looked just right.  It’s definitely a lot more interesting than a plain print!  The scripture is from the first chapter of Jeremiah.  I can’t wait to hang it up, especially since some of my paintings that I was going to hang are going to be up at The Buzz cafe (at Republic & Fremont).  (Amazing carrot cake, by the way, and fantastic service.)  Yep, it’s been a good week in the Block household!

This was taken when he was 5 days old….now he weighs 11.5 lbs!  Wow. He’s gained almost half his birth weight in a month.  It’s impressive how much a little thing like that can eat!

]]> Hey!  We’re back!  In case anyone out there didn’t know, we’ve been getting ready for our baby!  And in case you hadn’t heard, Patrick was born on Sept. 15th.  More on that later, as he’ll be getting his own photo shoot soon enough.  For now, there are pics and stuff at http://www.patrickhenryblock.com .

I had plans to blog these that Monday, but my water broke early that morning, soooo…..that definitely did not happen!  I am finally feeling well enough (and getting into more of a pattern with Patrick) to get to some work done this week.

We did Sophia’s photo shoot two days before I went into labor.  I wasn’t really planning on doing any shoots until October, just working on albums and stuff, but I am a sucker for baby sessions.  I am glad we did it!  Sophia was a doll and her parents, Erin & Adam, were great people to work with. They both went to Mizzou, so they are huge fans.  We got some pictures of Sophia dressed up in her cute Tigers dress, as well as some family shots of all of them in their yellow & black.  We went to a house down the road that had some beautiful landscaping in their backyard & asked them if we could take pictures there.  So a big thanks to some nice strangers for letting us use your yard!!!

]]> Yesterday I did an in-home photo shoot of the Bartlett’s new baby, Azella.  She is about a month and a half, if I remember correctly.  You never know what kind of light you’re going to get during an in-home session, but they had such a beautiful home with great big windows!  I had a lot to work with, both with what I brought along and with what Azella’s mom, April, had.  April & her husband, Chris, were a joy to work with, and we visited for quite a while afterward.  They generously shared some yummy blueberries and grapes with me!  :-)

I was so excited when April wanted to try these colorful scraps of silk I had brought along in a basket!  I love bright colors & I think they go so well with babies.  It’s refreshing over the typical pastels and light colors.  (I’m glad to see more colorful and well-designed baby bedding and such out there these days!)

Azella’s brother and sister – they were awesome to work with!  I chatted with them for a bit before we got started on the shoot.  I have quite a few homeschool kids in my classes at the Y, and they are always so much more mature – you can have more meaningful conversations with them at a younger age.  These two were no exception, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.  Kayden is a little Artist and sold me a picture he had colored for 50 cents.  He tried to get $2 out of me, but I didn’t have that much cash.  :-)

]]> Admit it. You like babies. Well, here’s a whole bunch of cuteness. This is a particularly long photo post because babies are so tiny and cute. Her parents are some good-lookin’ people too!

I loooove this image! It was Ross’s idea! Eleora kept moving her tootsies, which is ok because I think it makes the image more interesting than if everyone’s feet were all lined up straight. I thought it would look great as a black and white panoramic, so here you go.
