Baby Koah is here!
Posted by: | CommentsTwo things I love: Babies and natural light. Put them together and what do you get? A great photography session! (Ok, some of these I had to use a very light bounce, but the majority of it was all natural light from their big living room window.)
Thanks once again for such a chill photo session, Lindze and Landon! (By the way, you can see their maternity session from a few weeks ago here.) Commence squishy lips and naked baby bums….NOW!
love those toes poking out!
Koah in his Pizza House attire…..long story. I’d link to them but can’t find a website or FB page for them, even though they said they had one. I’ll have to call and find out, because they gave us this shirt when we ate there the day Koah was born. They are on Commercial Street & are pretty good for your basic pizza (good prices, friendly staff). We dropped it off at the hospital for them without our names, just a note on an order form. They were pretty confused until Matt dropped a line on Landon’s Facebook page that clued them in, hehe….I like Landon’s idea about putting him in the box!
Chelsea, Josh, and Joshua Henry’s maternity pictures
Posted by: | CommentsThis is Chelsea and Josh, and Joshua Henry, who is coming any day now! They live on a beautiful farm near Monett, and wanted pictures of them and their dog on the farm. I thought, “Sweet! Cute couple, quaint farm, baby momma with gorgeous eyes, AND a doggie! I can dig this!”
Sooo pretty, with justt a touch of fog left in the distant trees:
Wyatt was a very polite dog, and he knew how to fetch quit nicely!
More puppy (sorry, I like dogs…)
Valentine Designs
Posted by: | CommentsI had a few requests for Valentine’s Day cards, so here’s one I made this morning. I gotta run, but I’ll try to post more soon!
(The gray is where the picture goes and the red box is for your message. Colors can be adjusted! Looks cute in pinks, too.)

Here is a cute heart one:

And a fun, bright one:

Pure Captures is still booking for Valentine’s Day! Book your session by February 6th in order to receive pictures or cards for your sweetie. Order a set of one of these designs with your child’s photo for the class Valentine’s Day party! Twenty-four 4×6 photographic cards are $24 – including envelopes! (Additional cards are available.) These will totally knock the socks off those boring cartoon character cards that everyone else will be handing out.
Tiffany’s Revive the Dress session
Posted by: | CommentsA lot of people hear the words “Trash the Dress” and they freak out when thinking about their wedding dress being subjected to extreme things like water, weather, or dirt. Well, Tiffany was not afraid to model for us and have fun again in her wedding dress! She got married a few years ago and found out it was going to cost $400 to preserve the dress….and thinking any future daughter may not want to wear or fit into her mom’s dress, so why not have fun with it instead? Besides, how often do you get to wear that thing anyway?! So we Revived the Dress and did a photo shoot in some places she wouldn’t have normally gone on or before her wedding day for a shoot!
You can’t tell from the pictures (unless you zoom in really close on the high-res files!) but she has goosebumps because it was COLD that evening! She was amazing and didn’t complain….she did better than me, lol. We raced to the car a few times to warm up in between locations, and finished with hot cocoa and standing in front of a space heater at our house. We had beautiful light, although it was fading super fast at the end. But the shots turned out great, and I am happy we got a bride interested in having some fun again with her wedding dress. And it wasn’t even “trashed” – just a little grass and maybe some dirt. We did step over cowpies to get some of these shots, though!
(By the way, Tiffany is a Chiropractor at Springfield Sport and Spine. She fixed me up the day before Thanksgiving when I was having some weird back spasms, and she helped Matt with a few other things a few months ago, which are also doing much better with some of the therapies in her office and the exercises she showed him how to do at home.)
The Neill Family
Posted by: | CommentsHolly, Eric, and Leif came down to our house for this fun little photo shoot as part of our Fall portrait & Christmas card special. We met Holly when I was 9 months pregnant, when Matt did a one-mile swim at Moonshine Beach in Branson. Holly was coordinating the event & we let her know about the photos I had taken while Matt swam. Well, one thing led to another, and the next thing you know, we are taking their family pictures! Leif is a little over 1 year old and only the second little boy we have ever shot! (Doesn’t that phrase sound terrible??) For some reason we have had a ton of little girls, but Patrick and Leif have been our only boys. So it was a nice change! Here are a few from their session, full of beautiful fall color!

Ok, these are kind of “outtakes” when we attempted to get Leif to lay in the leaves next to Mom and Dad. (Nice face, Eric.) In the second one, you can see Grandma’s hand and part of Mr. Foxy (I can’t remember his name!) attempting to rescue the shot, but to no avail. But I love it anyway!
And finally, here’s a new Christmas card design. I was inspired by some cool Osage oranges Holly brought along, and some fall foliage in our yard. I love designing cards!
Patrick’s first official photo shoot!
Posted by: | CommentsWe’ve been waiting for a warm day to do this, and Monday was that perfect day. I have to say, photographing your own baby is a lot harder than photographing someone else’s! At least with another person’s baby, they can nurse or hold them for a bit without having to always be putting down the camera. But we got some good shots, and since we’ll always have this little baby model around, I didn’t worry too much about the shots that didn’t work out so well this time.
By the way, family & whomever else wants to can buy nice prints of these and others of Patrick that we’ll be adding at http://www.purecaptures.com/seemyprints
(He got confused about where the milk came from.)

My fav!
This is the view I see him from most often.

These last two I love the light on. Great job, Matt!
A Special Patrick Picture
Posted by: | CommentsWe ordered a standout mount of this picture of our baby! We thought it would look great with a texture and swirl, so we played around a bit until it looked just right. It’s definitely a lot more interesting than a plain print! The scripture is from the first chapter of Jeremiah. I can’t wait to hang it up, especially since some of my paintings that I was going to hang are going to be up at The Buzz cafe (at Republic & Fremont). (Amazing carrot cake, by the way, and fantastic service.) Yep, it’s been a good week in the Block household!

This was taken when he was 5 days old….now he weighs 11.5 lbs! Wow. He’s gained almost half his birth weight in a month. It’s impressive how much a little thing like that can eat!
