Anderson House

This house is for sale!  Check out some details about their home.  It’s in a great neighborhood & I have always felt safe visiting our friends who live here.

These images were shot in HDR (High Dynamic Range).  I shoot multiple exposures in RAW on a tripod and combine them in some HDR processing software.  This enables me to process them in a way that shows details in both the darkest and lightest areas (and have the correct exposure on the blue sky!).  It ends up looking more like a painting than a photograph with one exposure, which can be quite contrasty.  With the previous homes I posted, they have been either in natural light or I did some layering in Photoshop to create a similar effect to HDR (but was much more time-consuming).  For HDR, I can use a program called Photomatix to combine the images, then tone map them to make it look just right.  I admit, it was a bit of a learning curve for me, but (just the same way I learned Photoshop skills), I played with the controls and used a lot of the Help Info in the program multiple times before I got the hang of it!

I thought this was a great article that brings up some good reasons to hire a professional photographer for your real estate listing. Is it free like it would be if you did it yourself? No, but the end result of the photo is much better, and can help set you apart from all the other houses on the market.

Chanda’s House

Posted by: Pure Captures | Comments (0)

I photographed the home of Branch’s Nana the other day.  I could have spent all day taking little still lifes of her decor – Chanda’s got all kinds of old stuff, which is so fun to look at.  But I had to focus on the rooms as a whole and not pretend I was walking through a gorgeous antique store!

This was from Rebecca’s birthday in January.  I was going through some personal pics and they looked like they would make a fun blog post!  We went to Tea Bar and Bites, one of her favorite places to eat in Springfield.  The food is amazing, fresh, and made from scratch.  (Unfortunately, we have no food pics this time because we had just brought the camera in from the cold car and had to wait for it to de-fog, and we didn’t want to let our delicious food get cold!  That just means we have to go back, though, right?)  :-)
